Used widely in several industries, the stainless steel 301/301L tube is austenite and contains a definite proportion of nickel and chromium in its composition. The 301L tube particularly contains a lower amount of carbon. This enables it to be ductile and to be used in cold conditions. The presence of a lower amount of nickel in the 301/301L grades makes it cost-effective and can be employed in basic applications. While it is a downside, the reduction in nickel doesn’t hinder the alloy’s usage in corrosive environments and stressful conditions. The 301 is widely used due to its versatility and adaptive nature while also enabling properties exhibited by other grades.
The 301 stainless steel tube is efficient in working under cold conditions, due to its increased carbon content, as compared to 301L. On the other hand, 301L is capable of attaining maximum corrosion resistance without being annealed and is comparatively more ductile and weldable than the former. The corrosion resistance property of both grades is impressive with both being resistant to acids and being functional in an oxidizing environment. In terms of strength and toughness, 301 and 301L fulfill all the expectations and therefore, are suitable for wear and tear conditions. The alloy tube displays excellent working even under stressful and rigorous conditions.
The stability flaunted by the 301/301L under standard and harsh conditions has enabled it to be used very commonly in the manufacturing of pressure vessels. The applications of the tubes include their usage in conveyor belts, aircraft fittings, architectural parts, etc.
